Het is gelukt om voor de kerst het dak erop te krijgen, een hele opluchting!
Kerst betekent hier zomervakantie, dus veel bedrijven zijn super druk voor de kerst om nog van alles gedaan te krijgen. Via 1 van de 2 bouwers die aan de offerte werken, hebben we gelukkig een dakdekker kunnen vinden die nog tijd kon vinden om ons dak erop te leggen.
Daken zijn hier heel anders dan in Nederland. Hier worden nauwelijks dakpannen gebruikt, maar stalen platen zijn hier de norm. Zie het foto-album voor ons dak en wat daken om ons heen. Ze hebben lange banen gebruikt (‘long run’), zodat het 1 geheel is zonder overlap. Wat verder bijzonder is aan ons dak, is hoe vlak het is. Het is maar een helling van 3 graden.
Het inpakken van de muren is helaas niet gelukt voor de kerst om bovengenoemde redenen, maar het dak erop scheelt al een heleboel. Het weer werkt aardig mee zo in de zomer. Als het heeft geregend, gaan we toch even kijken hoe het huis erbij staat. Tot nu toe erg goed! ????
We managed to get the roof on before Christmas, quite a relief!
Christmas means summer holidays here, so many companies are super busy before Christmas to get everything done. Fortunately, we were able to find a roofer through 1 of the 2 builders working on the quotation who could still find time to install our roof.
Roofs are very different here than in the Netherlands. Roof tiles are hardly used here, but steel plates are the norm. See the photo album for our roof and some roofs around us. They have used long runs, so there is no overlap. What is also special about our roof is how flat it is. It’s only a 3 degree slope.
Unfortunately, wrapping the walls before Christmas was not possible for the reasons mentioned above, but putting the roof on makes a big difference. The weather has been quite well so far. If it has rained, we will take a look at the condition of the house. Very good so far!
